One of my favorite Bourbon brands is Buffalo Trace. The distillery also produces a very good vodka called Rain. It has a very distinctive bottle and I thought a good subject for photographing.
I love reflective surfaces, and I thought that this subject was particularly suited to its use. I did change it up somewhat in lens choice, going to a wider angle lens for a more majestic, towering look. The bottle is quite large. It was also an opportunity to play with a new modifier – a rigid reflector made specifically for background illumination. It yields an elliptical light pattern and accepts gels very nicely. I also was trying a new translucent background; this gave a very even spread of light, with a beautiful glow to it.
I was pleased with the results.
