Silver Efex Pro 2
This is another great time saver. Compare the color and B&W versions, below. I tweaked a preset slightly for contrast, blacks, brightness, and what Nik calls “structure” (mid-tone sharpness, similar to what is affected by the clarity slider in Lightroom).

I happen to like the presets.
The “simplification” B&W images offer is very appealing. I don’t consider myself a B&W photographer and like color in my images (why I shoot Sony), but on occasion it does strike a chord.
Portrait Professional 10
I had used this program in the past, with mixed results. It saved time, but sometimes was just too much in terms of its effects on the final image.
Because of that, I generally just retouched myself.
However, I upgraded to the new version (10.2). I compared a retouch I did with one PP did on the same image – and really liked the PP version much better. This isn’t true for all images, but for a straight beauty retouch I think it does a fine job.
